Coaching Stories - Stephen Maxted - Tour of Cambridgeshire

One of our coaching clients has recently completed the Tour of Cambridge in just under four hours; a fantastic feat considering he recently had a bad break of his leg and has slowly but surely worked his way back up to fitness. He says "I could not have done this without the coaching programme from Cadence and the support I have received from the staff team."

Stephen Maxted is aiming to cycle 5000 miles and raise £5000 for Bloodwise in 2018. Stephen and his wife, Elizabeth, have had many friends who have died of blood cancer of one form or another. They have seen children robbed of their parents and parents of their children because of these horrible diseases.

He set his bold goal because of an accident he had in November 2016 which robbed him of his target distance of 5000 miles in 2016. Stephen then decided to establish the mileage goal for 2018 and ask friends and contacts to support every mile ridden in the year (including on his turbo trainer) with a donation to Bloodwise.

The headline events of London to Paris in September, plus L'Etape du Tour and Ride London 100 (both in July) will be backed up by participation in the Tour of Cambridgeshire and sportives throughout the year, including the demanding Fred Whitton Challenge in the Lake District.

He is going to give the best he can but he can't do it just by myself. He needs your help. Your gifts and help spreading the word will be vital. Please 'follow me' on his Strava or MapMyRide, where his rides will be posted. You'll even see the hard and focused work he completes with the help of his Cadence coach!
